STUDENT DISCIPLESHIP & ENGAGEMENT BRAND

The Student Discipleship and Engagement Office (SD&E) was recently formed and the team requested an original logo that embodied the aim and mission of the office. I was responsible for all stages of the process including the development, design and final refinement.

Inspiration

In my design of the new logo I began with the SD&E mission statement. It reads, "The aim of the Office of Student Discipleship and Engagement is to meet students where they are by providing a grace-infused student experience that fosters Christ-centered formation.”

Then I brainstormed how I might display "grace-infused student experience" and "Christ-centered formation" in logo form. I researched columns and arrows in my initial development.

PROCESS

Based on the mission statement and general direction from the team I started making prototypes. My goal was to highlight the "aim" language as well as the four core areas of focus in the office.

The design went through many iterations and I had the team provide feedback on a few stylistic aspects to nail down the final look. We decided on the bottom right design and I am happy with how it turned out.
